     BALTIMORE, 05-06-11---Trainer Chris Grove was born and raised in Frederick, MD, about 40 miles from Pimlico Race Course. The 41-year-old is hoping to start Norman Asbjornson in the 136th Preakness® Stakes (Grade I) on Saturday, May 21 at Old Hilltop.

Trainer Nancy Alberts Passes

     BALTIMORE, 05-04-11---The Maryland racing community lost one of its most interesting personalities when trainer Nancy Alberts passed away late Tuesday night at Georgetown Medical Center. The 65-year-old, who suffered a stroke April 17, is just one of 13 female conditioners to saddle a Preakness Stakes starter.

Maryland Jockey Club Releases Smartphone App

     BALTIMORE, 05-02-11---The Maryland Jockey Club today announced the release of a free mobile application for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry smartphones.

     The app was available for download on Apple Thursday, April 28 and will provide instant, real-time access to the latest Preakness® Stakes updates, including news releases, historical data, blogs and wagering information.

     The app will be available on Android and BlackBerry later this week.

     BALTIMORE, 04-26-11---The Maryland Jockey Club announced today it has teamed up with Macy’s for a Fashion Show in the Center Court at White Marsh Mall on Saturday, April 30, beginning at 1 p.m. Preceding the Tickled Pink! event will be a Health Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.Proceeds benefit the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Pimlico Announces 2011 Alibi Breakfast Award Winners

     BALTIMORE, 04-25-11—Pimlico Race Course today announced the winners of this year’s Preakness media awards. Honorees will be recognized and awards presented at the May 19 Alibi Breakfast in the Terrace Dining Room. The ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., two days prior to the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, the $1 million Preakness® Stakes (Grade I).

Pimlico Opens Infield On Kentucky Derby Day For Plain White T's Concert

     BALTIMORE, 04-20-11---The Maryland Jockey Club today announced the public Infield will be open on Kentucky Derby Day, Saturday, May 7. The Derby Day Preakness Prep Infield Party at Pimlico Race Course will include concerts by The Plain White T’s and Sons of the Radio in the beer garden. Festivities begin at noon with Pimlico’s live card beginning at 12:45 p.m.
