3 Year Old Colt Tiznow D'Wildcat Speed
7-1-2-1 $87,398

Winless in three starts this year, Titletown Five hails from the barn of Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas, who would become the first trainer since Nick Zito in 2005 with three Preakness entrants.

Lukas, who shares ownership of the horse, also had three starters in 1996, when he was third, fifth and seventh, respectively, with Editor’s Note, Victory Speech and Prince of Thieves.

Out of two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Tiznow, Titletown Five has one victory in seven career tries, a nine-length maiden triumph going seven furlongs at Churchill Downs last October to end his juvenile campaign. In his previous start, he ran second at Saratoga behind future Grade 1 winner Violence, and a length ahead of Orb, who won the Kentucky Derby on May 4.

After having surgery to remove a knee chip, Titletown Five began this year running second in the Gazebo Stakes at Oaklawn Park on March 2, coming back four weeks later to finish ninth in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds Race Course.

In his most recent outing, Titletown, Five wound up fourth in the Grade 3 Derby Trial on April 27. Lukas decided on the Preakness after the horse worked a half-mile in :47 3/5 on May 7 at Churchill, the fifth-fastest of 35 horses.
