The Preakness is one of the largest single-day sporting events in the world as well as an American institution. First contested in 1873, the Preakness - known as "The People's Race...the People's Party" - is one of Thoroughbred racing's most valued Grade 1 races.
A record crowd of 135,256 watched Kentucky Derby runner-up Exaggerator beat Kentucky Derby and Florida Derby winner Nyquist earlier this year. A record $94.127 million was wagered on Pimlico's 14-race Preakness program. Past Preakness winners include Triple Crown champions Secretariat, Affirmed, Citation, American Pharoah, Seattle Slew and War Admiral.
Black-Eyed Susan Day attracted a record crowd of 47,956 that watched and wagered on a program including seven stakes races, highlighted by Go Maggie Go's victory in the Black-Eyed Susan, Noble Bird's victory in the Pimlico Special and Ben's Cat winning the Jim McKay Turf Sprint.
InfieldFest has become one of the world's most eclectic music festivals featuring two stages, unique attractions and the popular MUG Club. InfieldFest has played host to such artists as The Chainsmokers and Fetty Wap (2016), Armin van Buuren (2015), Lorde, NAS and Little Big Town (2014), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pitbull and Florida Georgia Line (2013), Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa (2012), Bruno Mars and Trains (2011), Zac Brown, O.A.R.
