Sunrise at Old Hilltop Kicks off Tuesday, May 16 at Pimlico

BALTIMORE – Sunrise at Old Hilltop, a popular tradition during Preakness Week at Pimlico Race Course which allows fans to take a walking tour through the backstretch and grandstand, begins Tuesday, May 16 from 6-9 a.m.
Fans can watch horses train, meet horsemen, farriers and owners, and shop for souvenirs while being escorted through the facility and the backstretch by knowledgeable tour guides.

“Sunrise Tours is offered for free to anyone,” said Fran Burns, who leads the Sunrise Tours. “We’re inviting people in for free to come and see what goes on here and have them back during Laurel and Pimlico to watch the races.
“Maryland racing has really had a resurgence and I think people are definitely paying more attention.”
Tours are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The last tour registration is 8:45 a.m. Parking for Sunrise at Old Hilltop is in the Rogers Avenue lot at the intersection of Northern Parkway and Woodcrest Avenue. You must exit the lot by 10 a.m.
