Maryland Jockey Club Unveils 2011 Preakness Logo
Tickets For Middle Jewel Now On Sale
BALTIMORE, MD 11-24-10---The Maryland Jockey Club today unveiled the 2011 Preakness logo for the 136th running of the $1,000,000 Preakness Stakes® (Grade I), the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, which is set for Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Pimlico Race Course.
For the 12th consecutive year, the Leffler Agency of Baltimore and Tampa designed the official Preakness logo. Four times their Preakness designs have won major national awards for the agency.
The 2011 Preakness logo focuses on the horse and jockey which are composed of overlapping, tapering streamers that appear to be blowing in the wind. These playful design elements give the impression of swift motion and convey the festive and celebratory nature of the Preakness Stakes. The modern rendering of next year's logo is balanced by the use of traditional Maryland colors, red, black and gold.
“The Preakness logo creation is a highlight of the year for us at Leffler and has been since 2000,” said Leffler Agency president Bob Leffler. “Conveying the tradition but being different enough to be collectible is the challenge that our staff meets year after year. These logos cannot ever look alike!”
