Maryland Jockey Club Accepting Entries for Woods & Frutkoff Awards

Winners to be Recognized May 17 at Alibi Breakfast at Pimlico
BALTIMORE - The Maryland Jockey Club announced today it is accepting entries for the David F. Woods Memorial Award and the Jerry Frutkoff Photography Award.
Both awards will be presented as part of the historic Alibi Breakfast Thursday, May 17 at Pimlico Race Course.
The David F. Woods award is presented annually to the writer of the best Preakness story from the previous year. The Frutkoff Award is presented to the photographer of the best Preakness picture from the previous year.
Along with recognizing the recipients of the David F. Woods and Frutkoff Award at the Alibi Breakfast, the Maryland Jockey Club will also recognize the winner of the Old Hilltop Award, presented to select media members who have covered Thoroughbred racing with excellence and distinction, and the Special Award of Merit, given to one who has made a positive impact on the racing industry.
The Alibi Breakfast, which started in the 1930s, features a gathering of media, owners, trainers, breeders and jockeys to celebrate Preakness and solicit interesting and entertaining race predictions.
Submissions for the David F. Woods should include an attachment of story, name of publication, date, and a link to the story. Submissions for the Frutkoff should include an attachment of the photo as well as publication.
