Baltimore Native Stacy Keibler To Be Celebrity Host For Preakness InfieldFEST
BALTIMORE,MD 04-24-09—The Maryland Jockey Club announced today that actress and Baltimore native Stacy Keibler has been named the official “celebrity host” of Preakness InfieldFEST, presented by Bud Light, at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday, May 16, 2009.
Plans for Preakness InfieldFEST were unveiled February 5. The day will feature a concert with three rock performances, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top, Grammy-nominated Buckcherry and Maryland’s #1 Rock Band, Charm City Devils, along with a pro beach volleyball tournament and an interactive experience, including virtual NASCAR racing, prior to the running of the $1 million Preakness.
Keibler, who graduated from Catholic High School, attended Towson University and was a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader before heading into the entertainment business, will be introducing the performers and interacting with the crowd.
Ten years ago, Keibler auditioned for the chance to be the new "Nitro Girl" for World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Keibler wowed both fans and executives and went on to win the contest. Shortly thereafter, WCW was acquired by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Keibler’s skills impressed the creators of the program so much that she was the only female brought over to the new company, where she immediately became a regular on the longest running live program in television history.
“We are thrilled to welcome Stacy back to Baltimore and the Preakness,” said Tom Chuckas, Maryland Jockey Club president and chief operating officer. “It was a perfect fit to have Stacy, known as “The Legs of the WCW” and “The Legs of the WWE” host our inaugural InfieldFEST, with headliner ZZ Top, whose smash hit “Legs” reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 and was featured as Keibler’s entrance theme during her WWE career.”
Prior to leaving the wrestling business Keibler competed on the inaugural Dancing with the Stars competition making it to the final three. Impressing not only the audience but also ABC executives, she was quickly offered a network talent deal. This has led to recurring roles on ABC’s GEORGE LOPEZ and WHAT ABOUT BRIAN, where she played the love interest of the lead character Brian, and the villain in the ABC Family mini-series SAMURAI GIRL. Keibler also appeared on the drama OCTOBER ROAD.
Now living in Los Angeles, Keibler has graced the covers of numerous magazines including Shape, Vegas, TV Guide, Maxim, FHM Australia, Muscle & Fitness, 6 Degrees, and Beverly Hills 213. She has been featured in Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Elle Girl, LA Times, Parade, Maxim (UK) and Fitness.
The famed Preakness® Stakes, the middle jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown, is the largest single day sporting event in the State of Maryland with attendance figures topping six-figures in nine of the last 10 years, including a record 121,263 in 2007.
