About The Miss Preakness Contest

Pimlico Race Course and the world-famous Preakness Stakes are looking for the next Miss Preakness. The winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship towards her college education and the privilege of appearing at several Preakness events.

Being Miss Preakness

The lucky young woman will do public relations work at a series of Preakness promotional events and on the race day itself. These events will be attended and viewed by more than 80 million people, including television viewers! The scholarship will be awarded after the completion off all events, made payable to the designated college or university for any semester.

Do You Have What It Takes?

To become the next Miss Preakness, you must be at least 18 years of age, single and never married and attending any Maryland University, Liberal Arts College, or Community College.

Heather Radford

The Maryland Jockey Club has announced that Heather Radford, a student at the University Of Maryland, is the 2009 Miss Preakness. The 23-year-old animal equine studies major will represent Pimlico Race Course at all of the Preakness Celebration activities, including the Preakness Parade and the post position draw for entries at on Wednesday May 13. Radford is an exercise rider for trainer John Melton at the Bowie Training Center.
