Pimlico Spring Meeting Opens Friday Afternoon

     BALTIMORE, 03-30-11---Live racing in Maryland shifts to historic Pimlico Race Course Friday, April 1 for the spring meeting. The headline event of the eight-week stand is the 136th running of the $1 million Preakness® Stakes (Grade I), the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, on May 21. The marquee meet of the Maryland racing season, which ends with the Preakness Day card, will feature 22 stakes races for purses of $2.9 million. Preakness weekend features 16 stakes races for nearly $2.5 million.

BALTIMORE, February 28, 2011---For the second consecutive year, Pimlico Race Course and the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest breast cancer organization, announced today a partnership to raise funds to aid awareness and research to take place on Black-Eyed Susan Day, Friday, May 20, 2011. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised will go to the Komen Maryland Affiliate to use for community outreach programs in Maryland and twenty-five percent will be used for life-saving breast cancer research.

Pimlico Stakes Schedule Worth $2.9 Million

     BALTIMORE, 02-02-11---The Maryland Jockey Club unveiled the 2011 Pimlico spring stakes schedule today after reaching agreement with both the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and Maryland Horse Breeders Association. The schedule still needs approval from the Maryland Racing Commission, which will hold its monthly meeting at Laurel Park on Feb. 15

Preakness Infield Tickets On Sale February 1

     BALTIMORE, 02-01-11---The Maryland Jockey Club announced tickets for the 2011 Preakness public Infield go on sale beginning today, Feb. 1. The 136th annual event will take place Saturday, May 21 at historic Pimlico Race Course.

     Tickets will be $40 in advance through Ticketmaster or the Preakness Ticket Sales Office and increase to $50 Preakness week (starting Monday, May 16). The MUG Club package is $60 in advance and $70 Preakness week.
