Santa Anita

Santa Anita

Widely acclaimed as one of the most beautiful settings for racing found anywhere, Santa Anita Park is the "Great Race Place". Santa Anita first opened for thoroughbred horse racing in 1934. It is situated on 305 acres of land approximately 14 miles northeast of Los Angeles. In addition to The Santa Anita Meet, which opens on December 26 each year and runs until mid-April, Santa Anita also plays host to The Oak Tree Meet for approximately six weeks each fall. Famed for its art-deco style grandstand and view of the San Gabriel mountains, Santa Anita features a one-mile oval dirt track and a 7/8-mile turf course. One of the most popular spots at Santa Anita is the Frontrunner Restaurant, a gourmet tropical-themed restaurant which seats 750 people and affords a spectacular view of the finish line.
