Preakness Portrait Art Contest

     Students from  9 northwest Baltimore area schools grades K - 12, were invited to create artwork showing the significance of the Preakness Stakes to Maryland history, while capturing the spirit of Thoroughbred racing.  The artwork has to include Preakness related images.  The introduction of The Junior Jewel showing the best artwork created by grades K - 4 was introduced this year in 2008.

     Below are the winners from 2002 to Present.

  The 2002 grand prize winner was created by Barbara Gold, a 12th grader from Western High School.

 

 

Bilqis Amatus Salaam, a 12th Grader at Western High School, was the grand prize winner of the fourth annual “Preakness Portraits” Youth Art Contest.

 David Curtis, an eighth grader at Fallstaff Middle School, was the grand prize winner of the fifth annual “Preakness Portraits” Youth Art Contest.
Tiffany Auguillard, an 11th grader at Western High School, was the grand prize winner of the sixth annual “Preakness Portraits” Youth Art Contest.

 

Shernice Richardson, a 12th grader at Western High School, is the grand prize winner of the seventh annual “Preakness Portraits” Youth Art Contest.

 

Alison Herman, a 11th grader at Western High School, is the grand prize winner of the eighth annual "Preakness Portraits" Youth Art Contest.

Alexis Davis, a senior at Western High School, is the grand prize winner of the ninth annual "Preakness Portraits" Youth Art Contest.

Shadesha Harrison, from Pimlico Elementary/Middle School is the grand prize winner of the "Junior Jewel".
